Youth Rules Announcement: Modified Checking

Important announcement regarding the umpiring of Youth Rules. In short, the National Umpiring Committee is stressing that umpires should strictly enforce the YOUTH RULES that appear in the back of the rulebook. In particular:

Players in 7th and 8th grades: May use MODIFIED Checking.
Players BELOW the 7th grades: Should NOT check

Those umpires asked to umpire Youth games should ask about the age level of the participants and see that the correct rules are being enforced. The complete announcement is attached for your information. (November 11, 2002)

NFHS Mandates Eye Protectors in Girls Lacrosse for 2004 Season
