Youth Grant Program
Following the successful 1998 International
Lacrosse Federation World Championships
hosted and coordinated by US Lacrosse,
an endowment was established to support
an ongoing US Lacrosse Youth Grant
Program. The purpose of the fund is
to award annual grants of equipment
to first-year girls and boys youth
(ages 15 and under) lacrosse programs
with demonstrated financial need in
developing lacrosse areas throughout
the country. A team with financial
need is defined as a program for which
participant financial contribution
cannot fully cover associated start-up
costs. A developing lacrosse area
is defined as a state or region where
lacrosse teams, leagues, camps, etc.
are currently limited or absent.
Although the fund’s size currently
limits the number and amount of grants
awarded each year, US Lacrosse and
the US Lacrosse Foundation seek to
build the size of the fund in an effort
to increase its ability to support
youth lacrosse development nationwide.
If this is a program you’d like to
support, please contact Susan Koches,
Director of Development, at skoches@lacrosse.org.
The equipment grants are made possible
in part by the generosity of the lacrosse
equipment industry. Our appreciation
is extended to Bacharach, Brine, deBeer,
Lax World, Shamrock Lacrosse, STX
and Warrior Lacrosse for their continued
participation, and we thank new contributors
Sports Her Way and Tuskewe Krafts/Patterson
for their generosity.
For the 2003 grant cycle, fourteen
(14) US Lacrosse Youth Grants were
awarded, up from six in 2002,
including four girls’ equipment packages
(for 25 players), four boys’ equipment
packages (for 25 players) and six
girls’/boys’ combination equipment
packages (for 20 girls and 20 boys).
Sticks, balls, all protective gear
and a set of goalie equipment are
offered as part of each package.
Congratulations to all grant recipients.
US Lacrosse looks forward to working
with these and many other programs
to make their first year a success.

Camp Scholarship
Program
Want to brush up on your game? Summertime
means lacrosse camp time. The Camp
Scholarship Program provides educational
lacrosse opportunities for children
between the ages of 10-14, made possible
through generous tuition waivers by
camp directors across the country.
Eligibility for the program is based
on financial need. Scholarships are
available through the US Lacrosse
chapter in the area where the camp
will be held - therefore not all chapters
have scholarships available. Children
ages 10-14 who reside in the chapter
area where the camp is held are encouraged
to apply for and are given first priority
to the scholarships available in that
area.
Camp
scholarships for 2004
are now available.
Camp directors - are you on our scholarship
invitation list? Click
here to contact us about donating
spaces at your camp for this year
or next year. We will acknowledge
your camp in Lacrosse Magazine and
on our website.

College Selection
Page
High school members of US Lacrosse
can now pursue a college lacrosse
career with the help of the College
Selection Page here on the US Lacrosse
website. Expanding on the former College
Selection Program, students can now
browse through university admissions
pages and lacrosse coach contact information
on their own at the US Lacrosse website.
Colleges with lacrosse programs are
listed by categories of women's/men's,
athletic division and region of the
country. Plans are in progress to
expand the page's offerings, including
opportunities for students to get
feedback on their questions and to
read advice from college players and
coaches. Click

Women’s and
Men’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Education
Programs
Want to coach, but not sure you know
where to start? Prior to the spring
2004 season, US Lacrosse will launch
interactive, introductory-level online
courses for members ready to begin
coaching boys’ or girls’ lacrosse.
Funding from the US Lacrosse Men’s
Division Coaches Council endowment,
the US Lacrosse Women’s Division and
the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse
Coaches Association are making this
web project with Altvia
Technologies possible. The launching
of the online courses will be followed
by the development of their complement,
a nationwide network of introductory-level
‘hands-on’ US Lacrosse coaches’ clinics.
The intro courses are part of a comprehensive,
multi-level Coaches’ Education Program
in development over the next three
years. Stay tuned… and get ready to
learn how to coach lacrosse! There
are also a number of educational resources
available in the US Lacrosse
book and video library.

Coaches Travel
Clinic Program
We are excited to present another
opportunity for developing areas of
lacrosse! Through this program, high
school and college lacrosse coaches
travel to share their knowledge at
your coach and player clinics. The
coaches can speak on numerous topics,
demonstrate special skills and more.
Any coach or clinic organizer in an
area new to lacrosse is encouraged
to apply. The program covers the cost
of the coach's mode of travel to your
site. All on-site expenses, including
accommodations, must be covered by
the organization sponsoring the clinic.
Place your applications now, as spaces
are limited.

National Clinic
Program
Throughout the month of February
each year, US Lacrosse hosts the National
Clinic Program for youth and high
school players across the country.
Building on the long-standing success
of the Women’s Division National Clinics
are the Men’s Division National Clinics,
which debuted in 2002. The local clinic
events are fundraisers for the US
Women's and Men’s National Teams,
members of which conduct the clinics.
Check out this year's women's
and men's clinic sites.

Bridge Lacrosse
The initiative formerly known as
‘Motivational Lacrosse’ now has a
new name and its own committee on
the US Lacrosse Youth Council. The
BRIDGE (Building Relationships to
Initiate Diversity, Growth and Enrichment) Lacrosse
Committee held its first, well-attended
general meeting at the US Lacrosse
Convention. Leaders from existing
BRIDGE programs came together to share
their ideas for expanding the game
to youths in even more communities
around the country. US Lacrosse operations
funding and grants from the US Lacrosse
Men’s Division Coaches Council endowment
and Credit Suisse First Boston will
help to seed initial committee projects,
such as information packets for starting
a BRIDGE program and grant writing
instruction. Interested in supporting
BRIDGE Lacrosse? Please email Jennifer
Allen at jallen@lacrosse.org.
