Lacrosse Is Crossing Into New Territory

PHILADELPHIA, May 29 - Shortly after Matt Cone began working at Microsoft in 1994, he looked into playing in a lacrosse league. Cone, who grew up in Massachusetts and played at Ithaca College, was dismayed to find there were only 30 teams in the state of Washington.

Tragedy at Cornell
The lacrosse world was shocked to hear
of the death of Cornell men's lacrosse
player George Boiardi during a game
against Binghamton University on March
17. George died after accidentally being
struck in the chest with a ball. US
Lacrosse mourns this tragic loss, and
our thoughts and prayers remain with
the Boiardi Family.
In addition to sorrow, a loss of life
on the lacrosse field also generates

NATIONAL TOURNAMENT EXPANDS
BALTIMORE —The US Lacrosse Women's
Division National Tournament will include
an additional division when it is played
this year. A new division specifically
for high school seniors has been added
to the tournament which has a high school
division and club division. The 71st
edition of the National Tournament takes
place at LehighUniversity in Bethlehem,
Pa., from May 29-30

Development Program (NDP), a newly
formed recruiting initiative for elite
high school lacrosse players.
