Garners First-Ever Preseason Top 20

Cardinal selected No. 19 in Lacrosse
Magazine's preseason rankings.
STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University
women's lacrosse team earned the program's
first-ever preseason national top 20
ranking, coming in at No. 19 in Lacrosse
Magazine's annual preseason rankings.
The Cardinal, who return 18 letterwinners
from last year's 14-4 team, captured
its sixth consecutive league title in
2003 and finished the season ranked
No. 15 in the final Intercollegiate
Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association
poll.
The Cardinal, under fourth-year Head
Coach Michele Uhlfelder have posted
an overall record of 38-16 (.704). Stanford,
who is still the only west coast team
to ever garner a top 20 national ranking,
is the only west coast team listed in
the preseason top 20.
The Cardinal, who are currently on
a 11-day trip in Japan to promote the
growth of lacrosse, will join the Mountain
Pacific Sports Federation in 2004. Stanford
opens its season on February 14, 2004
when it hosts the UC Davis Aggies.
