Stanford Garners First-Ever Preseason Top 20 Ranking
Cardinal selected No. 19 in Lacrosse Magazine's preseason rankings.

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University women's lacrosse team earned the program's first-ever preseason national top 20 ranking, coming in at No. 19 in Lacrosse Magazine's annual preseason rankings. The Cardinal, who return 18 letterwinners from last year's 14-4 team, captured its sixth consecutive league title in 2003 and finished the season ranked No. 15 in the final Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.

The Cardinal, under fourth-year Head Coach Michele Uhlfelder have posted an overall record of 38-16 (.704). Stanford, who is still the only west coast team to ever garner a top 20 national ranking, is the only west coast team listed in the preseason top 20.

The Cardinal, who are currently on a 11-day trip in Japan to promote the growth of lacrosse, will join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in 2004. Stanford opens its season on February 14, 2004 when it hosts the UC Davis Aggies.
